Milonga Basics (Winter 2020)

posted Mar 17, 2018, 1:04 PM by Leo Gernovski   [ updated Feb 19, 2020, 8:31 PM ]
6 Sundays: Jan 5 - Feb 23 (no classes on Feb 2 and 16) from 7:15 to 8:15 PM
Milonga is one of the three primary rhythms that tango dancers dance to at tango parties called "milongas" (try not to confuse the two).  These rhythms are: Tango (4/4 time), Vals (3/4 time) and Milonga (2/4 time). Milonga dance is the most joyful and playful of the three. Almost any tango step can be danced to Milonga rhythm, but there are also many steps that fit especially well into the milonga rhythm.

This class introduces students to milonga musicality, technique, and some basic steps of Milonga dance (or maybe we will learn some steps from the video). Class Time: 1 hr.
Pre-Rrequisite: pre-intermediate or intermediate level, some social dancing experience.
