Tango Foundations (Fall 2018)

8 Sundays starting on September 16, from 6 to 7:15 PM 


Argentine Tango Foundations is the very basis of what tango is all about. Whether you are a complete Argentine Tango newbie or an experienced tango dancer or anywhere in between, come to this 8-week series to
 discover, taste, and try out the 7 basic movements of Argentine Tango and then put them together in a pleasing way. Class Time: 1 hr 15 mins.
 

Class Materials to be Covered

Week 1 - Forward, Side, & Back with Intention in Open Embrace. 

Week 2 - The Tango Walk to Music. 

Week 3 - Disassociation & Applied Disassociation. 

Week 4 - Traveling Ochos in Open Embrace for Lead & Follow. 

Week 5 - ‘Fred’ Torture :-) 

Week 6 - Follower’s Molinete and Lead’s Giro in Open Embrace. 

Week 7 - The Argentine Cross in Open Embrace. 

Week 8 - Tango musicality and traditions


No previous dance experience or partner necessary. 

Registration required for the whole series. No walk-ins after the 2nd class. 

Series Prices:

  • Full price: $120 per person, $225 per couple.
  • Full-time students and previous North Shore Tango students: $105 per  person, $195 per couple
  • Class repeats: $90 per person, $165 per couple
  • Register online or pay cash or check at the door.
  • Walk-in (1st or 2nd class only): $18 per person, $30 per couple

  • What to bring: Socks, Water, and a Smile. 
    What to wear: Lite, loose-fitting clothing that allows you to move without restrictions. 
    Pre-Requisite: None.

    Intermediate Tango (Fall 2018)

    8 Sundays starting September 16, from 7:30 to 8:30 PM 

    This series is for those who have completed all Pre-Intermediate Tango courses with us or elsewhere and familiar already with basic tango steps and concepts. You will continue to work on your technique, understanding of tango terminology and musicality, and expand your tango vocabulary. 

    Class Time: 1hr.

    Class material to be covered: 

    Tango Basics review

    Barridas

    Wraps and Ganchos

    Intro to Sacadas

    Tango Improvisation and dancing to different tango orchestras


    Registration required for the whole series. No walk-ins after the 2nd class. 

    Series Prices:

  • Register online or pay cash or check at the door: $105 per  person, $195 per couple
  • Walk-in (1st or 2nd class only): $18 per person, $30 per couple


  • What to bring: Dancing shoes with suede leather soles. 
    What to wear: Lite, loose-fitting clothing that allows you to move without restrictions. 
    Pre-Requisite: Pre-intermediate tango series or instructor consent
